FujiFilm FinePix S2800HD 14 MegaPixel 18x Zoom Digital Camera

With chests puffed out, Fujifilm have proudly announced themselves to be the creators of the world’s smallest 18x zoom camera in the shape of FinePix S2800HD.

It’s a bit of a niche category for sure, but their new FinePix 14 megapixel CCD  S2800HD camera slams down a massive zoom range, with their Fujinon optical zoom lens running from a medium wide-angle 28mm right up to a Moon-browsing 504mm high.

Stabilisers on

Naturally, with that kind of beefy zoom on tap, Fujifilm have fitted out their wee zooming snapping thing with a mechanically stabilised 1/2 3” sensor backed by high ISO sensitivity settings.

Fujifilm claim that this Dual Image Stabilisation combo should reduce blurring caused by hand-shake and freeze subject movement to provide top notch shots.

HD-tastic

As the name suggests, the FinePix S2800HD is HD enabled and able to playback both stills (1080p) and movies (720p) in HD quality, with a built-in mini HDMI port letting you share your photographic talents via the medium of a HD ready TV.

Conveniently powered by 4 x AA batteries and offering a modest 23 MB Internal memory, the FinePix S2800HD  measures up at 110 × 74 × 82 mm and weighs around 341g sans le batteries.

The S2800HD will become available in early September 2010 at a retail price of $259.95.
